Madonna and Child Christmas Cards

Hi everyone

Thank you to everyone for your lovely comments and kind words on my last post.

This is the first of two quick posts this weekend as I wanted to share some cards made with the Chocolate Baroque Christmas stamps.

For both of these cards I have used the Madonna and Child stamp from the “A Child is Born” set.

FloLangleyCBDTSeptCC092AThis card was really easy to make.

I printed out a piece of music paper and then just stamped my image onto that using a dark brown Archival ink.

I colored the image using water color pencils.  Just applying color where I wanted it and then using a damp paint brush I blended the colors.

I then made up the card as seen using some petty papers from my stash and adding a couple of wooden embellishment and some plasters tape.

FloLangleyCBDTSeptCC-81AFor my second card I used a pre-made backing paper.  The original is one that I made with a Gelli Plate.

For my main focal piece I used a piece of card that I had soaked up some stray ink onto.  I lightened areas by *dribbling on some liquid Vanish.  Y’know the stuff that you use for the laundry.

I made up the card as seen just adding a little bit of ribbon and some blue gems.

* Just to share.  When empty and clean, the bottles that contain the liquid used in the new electronic cigarettes are brilliant for crafting.  They have a long thin nozzle on them and work great for the bleaching purposes above or for applying glue.

That’s all from me for today.

I will be back tomorrow with the last of the Christmas cards.

Thank you for looking.

Have a great weekend.

  2. Beautiful cards, Florence, and I appreciate your tips. Once I used some lovely deep blue paper and added some bleach splatters with some gold splatters afterward…it came out so pretty. The vanish sounds perfect.

    Blessings for the day,

  3. Two beautiful cards Florence, I love the beautiful rich colours and design.

  4. These are both really lovely cards. Quite different even with the same image. I particularly admire your 2nd card with its cool blues and greens – just beautiful
    Cheers, Dianne

  5. Two gorgeous cards using the Madonna image Flo. Love the beautiful turquoise backing paper for the first card … looks amazing with the brown stamping. The drywall tape and fleur-dis-lis embellishments are perfect.

Love the backing paper of your second card … gorgeous and saturated blues — the design is spectacular. Love how you’ve used bleaching on your inked image — so pretty! Loll xx

  6. Both lovely cards, Flo!! I’m playing catch-up with visiting 🙂 You’ve been a busy crafter 🙂 That’s a good thing!! XOXO-Shari
