Oriental Influences – 2 Cards

Hi everyone

Today I would like to share some cards made using digi background papers designed by Chocolate Baroque’s very own Lesley Wharton.

These are really gorgeous background papers which are available as a free downloads on the Chocolate Baroque Color Challenge Blog.

FloLangleyLWBackingImages6I stamped my images onto the digital background paper using Brown Archival Ink and stenciled the leaf pattern around my image using Distress Inks.  I then just colored the images using Water Color pencils.  How simple was that!!  This is why I love these papers.

FloLangleyLWBackingImages1A3I stamped my lady image out onto one piece of the background paper, colored her with Water Color pencils and cut her out.

I took another piece of the background paper and stamped the tree using VersaMark (watermark) and then applied some chalk using some cotton wool…just gently patting the chalk over the VersaMark.

I stamped the word Tranquility across the tree using Brown Archival Ink and attached the cut out lady to my card using foam tabs.

The Bee Keeper’s Daughter

I adore this stamp.  This is one of my favourite (head/face) stamps of all time.

FloLangleyLWBackingImages10I printed off a piece of the background paper and added some additional color to the flower boarder using Water Color Pencils.

I stamped my images, the lady and the bees, using Archival Ink and colored them using Water Color Pencils.  I then edged the focal piece with Distress Inks.

I made up the card as seen using some pretty co-ordinating papers from my own stash.

FloLangleyLWBackingImages13Another quick and easy card using the background papers.  Again, just stamping the image with Archival Ink and coloring it using Water Color pencils.

I really enjoyed making these cards.  It’s always fun to get lots of inks and paints out but some times there isn’t the time or it isn’t convenient to get all of the stash out.  I found these background papers a great alternative to be creative.  Thanks Lesley.

If you have never used digi backgrounds before this would be a perfect time to have a go. Try them out with your stencils, inks, stamps, and anything else you can lay your hands on.  Have fun!!!  Did I mention…they are free!!

Just a reminder, there is still plenty of time to join in this months color challenge.  Please click HERE for all of the details and to join in the fun.  Better still why not join the site so that you get regular updates of all the challenges.
