Hi everyone
I hope you are all having a good week.
I am slotting this post in quickly. I am on chick watch again!
Today’s little projects were a little bit of an experiment. I was asked to make up some samples using the fab Whitby Abby Stamp from Crafty Individuals. I have had the stamp for a while but only really used it to make Gothic themed projects for friends.
I was a little bit stumped for ideas at first and also in a bit of a panic because of the deadline I had. You know when you mind just goes blank. Anyway, I visited some of the online art galleries in Whitby and the surrounding area. I found some amazing artwork of the Abbey and I really loved how some of the artists used color. I took inspiration from the artwork I saw and these are the results. I will be revisiting this stamp very soon to try out some of the other ideas I had.
I added the shadow to the trees but then forgot to add it to the front of the ruins. Must remember that in future.
Great images to use for masculine cards as well as the spookylicious time. What a about a Gothic wedding…
Maybe some rays of light coming through the Abbey’s arched windows would have been nice on this one. Something to try another time.
On both of these I coloured the background with Distress Inks and then stamped the images using black ink. I then fixed the ink with a spray fixative.

Take care,

Hello Florence, two fabulous cards, it’s a great image to use, and your colours and design are marvellous, love the Edgar Allen Poe quote. It’s a brilliant place to visit, if you ever get an opportunity to go there. I love Whitby. Good luck with your chicks, Kate x
Great colors behind those stamped images. Very nice cards!

Lovely projects, especially the top one. The Witby Abbey image also reminds me a little of Tintern Abbey, our favourite stop off on the Fosse Way.
Two beautiful cards Florence and love the background colours on both but the second with that flaming sunset and the bright light coming through the windows is magical. x
STUNNING ! The colours are FABULOUS !!!! I am in awe of your colouring skills, beautifully stamped and I love the second looks like an amazing sunset on the abbey is on fire either way its gorgeous.
