Thank you for your visits and lovely comments on my last post.
Today’s little project was made using Crafty Individuals new stamps A Flock of Birds. This is a large stamp so I decided to cut it down. Normally I would cut close to the edge of the image but this time I cut cleanly, in straight lines so that I could put the stamp back together exactly as it was so that I could use it for backgrounds as well when I needed to.
I mixed and matched lots of other stamps for this one and decided to use the birds as crows. Just to share, I used the birds as seagulls on a project which is on my craft blog here.
I coloured the background (water colour paper 300gm) with diluted Distress Oxides. Firstly, I used Fossilized Amber and Cracked Pistachio but thought the green was a bit too bright for my liking so I toned it down a little with Iced Spruce.
I stamped the trees, the large birds and then the small birds using black Staz-On.
The large birds, were stamped twice to make them really dark.
I stamped the script using a Archival light brown.
To finish off I stamped the postage marks in grey Staz-on.
I used a scrap of torn paper, a sponge and some Frayed Burlap Distress Ink to create the mountains.
Using a damp paint brush, I took a little bit of the ink out, on the branches of the trees, to show the little highlights on the image.
To finish off, and to tone it all down a little more, I sponged some Walnut Distress Ink to the outside edges.
