Folding Friendship Card With Floral Wrap – pretty birds inside

Morning everyone,

I hope you all had a great weekend. Thank you everyone for your lovely comments left on my recent posts.

I was sitting outside this morning having a coffee.  It was lovely and quiet apart from the rooks!!  All of a sudden, I saw something in the corner of my eye, moving towards me, across the floor. Trying not to move too much I turned my head and it was a red squirrel. I could hear my darling man in the kitchen so I lightly tapped on the window to get his attention. He took some photos from inside the house, through the window.  This was the best one.  I have to put that wire planter over the bird food so that the pesky rooks don’t eat it all but the squirrel seemed quite happy climbing into it.  He stayed there for a good five minutes.

Right, back to craft.  Another card made for Crafty Individuals.  It sort of evolved as I was making it. I had to preformed idea.

To make the base I glued to blank square cards together. So the right hand side of one card and the left hand side of the other so that the center piece is double thickness. Easier, no measuring or scoring!! lol!

I stamped the sentiment Friends on a panel of pretty papers. This was attached to the back of the right hand side card.

Inside the folding card

I attached three pieces of pretty papers to the inside panels of the card.

I made the three bird panels in the same way. I cut to size three pieces of water colour paper 350 gm and swished them around in some *diluted Distress Inks. I then stamped the bird image onto each piece. I then took a damp paint brush and took out some of the colour from the bird and the branch. I then, using Distress inks and a paint brush, painted parts of the image that I wanted to high light.  I added some white dots of ink on the flowers. to finish the panels off, I stamped some script randomly using Archival ink, matching the colour of the script to the background colours. I then attached the stamped pieces to the pretty paper panels.

*Diluted distress inks – pat some distress ink onto a flat plastic surface and spritz with water.

This is the front cover without the floral wrap. I attached the pretty papers and the sentiment to back of the left hand card.

I made a small wrap, that slides over the card, and keeps it closed when it is folded up.

I used some pretty papers for the base of the wrap. I coloured some water colour paper with Distress Inks (trying to match it to the colours of the paper) and then cut the flowers out using a die.  The flowers cover the wrap seam.

Crafty Individuals Stamps Used:

Blossom Robin CI-483
Sentiment – Every Day Curly Words by Linda Edwards CI-464
Script – 1893 Script CI-214
Crafty Individuals papers – Seaside Whispers A4 Background Papers

Just to share. These are my own thoughts. The Seaside Whispers papers are a great alternative if you don’t have or want to use Distress Inks to make inky backgrounds. They are also brilliant for stamping directly onto. Nice quality. Like them lots.

Thank you for looking.

Take care,

Flo x

This is such a good idea (no messering I mean) and looks so good; The birds look beautiful, but the wrap is my favorite; the flowers look so stunning! This is a present on itself!
And so great you saw a squirrel in your garden! They areone of my favorite animals; quick, smart and sweet…
Hope it will come back again… Hugs, Gerrina

Thank you Gerrina. I was hoping you would call in because I know you love squirrels. I was thinking of you when I posted this. He has been back this morning but a jackdaw scared him away. Hopefully tomorrow morning he will come visiting again 🙂 Hugs Flo xx
